Yellowstone Lake State Park
This 970-acre state park, with an additional 455-acre man-made lake, offers a wide range of outdoor recreational experiences for hikers, bikers, snowmobilers, cross-country skiers and snowshoers. The lake is shared by personal watercraft, boats, kayaks, canoes, swimmers, and anglers. Facilities available at the park include 130 individual campsites, group camping for about 200 people, hiking and cross-country skiing trails, snowmobile trails, swimming area, and picnic areas. Fishing is one of the most popular activities in the park, including ice fishing. The CD-Rom offers a review of the campground, with photos of 12 of the recommended campsites. Included are two printable maps of the park and its campground, with photos of the beach and boat launch area, and information about the park's hiking trails, canoeing on the Pecatonica River, area horse trails, swimming, fishing, and wildlife, including the bat population which eliminates most of the mosquitoes in the park. There is also information about other nearby attractions, including the Sugar River State Trail, Pecatonica Trail, Cheese Country Recreation Trail, and Pecatonica River Trail.
